Project Manager (Weavers, Kilbarchan)

Hugh Stirling is looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to lead the transformation and redevelopment of a B Listed Church into a development of 17 unique luxury apartments.


You will ensure that Health and Safety standards are maintained and you will be confident in taking immediate corrective action if you witness a breach of the any QESH guidelines.


Reporting to the Operations Director you will lead the development team and demonstrate experience of meeting deadlines. Responsibilities include managing sub-contractors by giving them clear direction and clarifying expectations in all aspects of site delivery. Effective communication skills are paramount to ensure all parties, including local authority bodies, are kept up to date with any changes and activities on the site.


The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following.
•    Experience working to NHBC standards. 
•    Experience with B Listed Conversions and building to a high quality in a similar role with a housebuilder is desirable. 
•    Commercial awareness with maintaining budgetary requirements on planned activities such as procurement and change management.
•    Management of site resources including labour, plant and materials.
•    Client customer service.  


You will hold valid SMST, CSCS, First Aid certificates, competency in Scaffold Awareness, Traffic Management and Lifting Ops.

HR Administrator/Payroll Assistant

Hugh Stirling are seeking to appoint a permanent, full-time HR & Payroll Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an excellent standard of support to the HR Team and the business as a whole, whilst also supporting all payroll activities. 

Key areas of the role will surround:

  • Providing solid administration support for all aspects of current and future employee lifestyle to include recruitment, offer letters and contracts, on-boarding, training, absence, performance management, contractual changes and leaver processing.

  • Ensuring all employee data is stored accurately and updated accordingly

  • Producing monthly reports as instructed

  • Having a solid understanding of the importance of awareness and deadlines

  • Ensuring reporting and payroll information is provided on time.

  • Providing basic information to employees in relation to family-friendly policies

  • Helping to ensure company-wide awareness and consistent application of all Human Resources policies and procedures

  • Processing complete end-to-end payroll which will include SSP, starters/leavers/ p11d’s/ maternity and paternity leave

  • Reconciling all info including HMRC queries, Tax, Pension, Court orders

  • Ad-hoc duties as and when required


To be successful in this role, it’s important that you hold the following experience:

  • Solid experience within an HR & Payroll role

  • Excellent knowledge within the full end-to-end payroll process

  • Solid communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

Maintenance Operative

Due to the continued growth and expansion of our company, we are seeking skilled general maintenance operatives to join our team and work with us on exciting contracts across Central Scotland. We are a business which strives to deliver the best for our clients. We have positions available in both Glasgow and Edinburgh across multiple sites, a van will be provided.

Key tasks for which the post holder will be responsible:

  • Undertaking minor joinery and locksmith duties; Repairing Handles, Changing Locks, Boarding up broken close windows, repairing and reinstating Perspex or glass into windows, Re-installing handrails on walls.

  • Fencing and Handrail repairs, replacements and upgrades.

  • Painting both internally and externally - This could be a mix of fences, masonry walls and Communal spaces.

  • Gutter Cleaning and Moss Clearance,

  • Carpet/Stair edge repairs in communal areas,

  • Basic plumbing tasks

  • Any other duties considered necessary by Management.


You will also be responsible for;

  • Maintain site cleanliness during Maintenance work and upon completion of work

  • Deliver a quality of work that meets Company and Industry standards

  • Deliver productivity levels in line with Company targets

  • Submit correct and timeous reports and documentation required by the service department e.g. payroll, stock, recharge processes etc

  • Adhere to the Companies commitment to Health & Safety at work, Meet and properly discharge all Health & Safety regulations and risk management control procedures

  • Maintain tools, plant and transport in good working order and ensure Company equipment is safe before use

  • Read and interpret technical specification and drawings related to the trade area and produce sketch drawings as required

  • Undertake any other duties as required

  • A full Clean UK driving licence

  • A person who remains calm, cool and in control under pressure

  • Take pride in doing everything you do to the highest standard

  • A good communicator, who understands the importance of customer service

  • PVG/Disclosure required

  • CSCS card required

Fit Out Joiners

Hugh Stirling are one of the leading providers of reactive, fit out, refurbishment, facilities management and construction services in Scotland. A long standing business that’s being going for 60 years with a proud track record of excellence, we aim high, act responsibly and value our staff and customers.

We are currently recruiting for 3 pairs of Joiners, based in West Central Scotland, some travel will be required. We are looking for joiners with a good attitude to work and who would like to work on a competitive rate and price work.

Work will be primarily within our Projects department working on High end Refurbishment and Fit out projects within the Hospitality, commercial and office sectors. The successful candidate must be fully competent in all aspects of Joinery 1st and 2nd Fix and finishing joinery skills.

Key Requirements:

  • At least 3 years’ time served experience in the trade

  • Industry CSCS card

  • Asbestos Awareness ticket

Qualifications and experience

To be considered for this position applicants will have:

  • Professionally qualified in Construction Management is preferred or significant relative professional experience within a similar environment.

  • Technical knowledge with Construction, Fit-Out, Shopfitting and Refurbishment projects and operational support functions.

  • Passionate about customer service and consistently delivering excellence.

  • Strong knowledge of budgetary management

  • Strong working knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation

  • Significant senior leadership and management experience within a Construction customer-facing environment.

Competitive hourly rate would be depending on experience. Overtime also available.
