Hugh Stirling has officially commenced works at Browns Brasserie & Bar, located in the iconic former General Post Office building on George Square in Glasgow. This landmark site, with its striking sandstone façade and rich Victorian architecture, forms a central part of Scotland’s urban heritage — and we’re proud to be playing a role in its continued evolution.

A Project Rooted in History with a Modern Purpose

Browns Brasserie & Bar is a well-known destination in Glasgow’s hospitality scene, housed within the former GPO headquarters. The building itself is more than 130 years old and has stood as a civic focal point since its construction. Today, after careful transformation, it offers a relaxed, stylish brasserie and bar experience right in the heart of the city.

The current programme of works represents a thoughtful interior remodel and refurbishment, designed to respect the building’s historic character while refreshing the space to meet contemporary hospitality standards.

This project continues our ongoing relationship with Mitchells & Butlers PLC and draws on strong partnerships established with key designers and consultants. Working collaboratively with KIRK NOLAN and Gleeds, the team has mobilised on site and is delivering a high-quality remodel that will enhance Browns’ interior environments while preserving the architectural integrity of the former GPO.

Our site management team and trusted subcontractors have laid strong foundations for the works ahead. Their professionalism and coordination are essential to navigating the challenges presented by heritage buildings and complex fit-out programmes.
